Michael VIII Palaeologus (?), 1261-1282. Aspron Trachy (Silver, 23 mm, 1.45 g, 6 h), probably Magnesia. Virgin Mary, nimbate, seated facing on backless throne, holding with her both hands medallion of infant Christ; to her left and right, MP - ΘV. Rev. Michael VIII (?) standing facing on the left, wearing crown with pendilia ans loros, holding labarum in his right hand and St. Demetrius, nimbate and in military attire, standing facing on the right; both holding between them cross in circle on shaft. Bendall, LPC, -. DOC -. Lianta -. SB -. Apparently unpublished and unique. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and somewhat clipped, otherwise, about extremely fine.
